At the DC Vintage & Antique Sewing Machine Showroom, in conjunction with the DC Fashion Tailoring Institute, our mission is to provide people from all walks of life (including, but not limited to, at risk youth, seniors, returning citizens and battered women), with a safe haven where they can be trained and instructed, with emphasis on entrepreneurship and career development. Graphic arts media (logo design, garment printing, embroidery, DTF, editorial layout)
Adobe certification
Brand development (pattern making, sample making, small batch manufacturing)
Vintage and antique sewing machine restoration and repair

Through our fashion programming and workforce development, training will be provided in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Our focus will be on providing technical employability skills that implement career/job search techniques, paired with assisting participants with successfully developing vocational skills that lead to proficiency in performing actual tasks, and technical functions that lead to industry recognized credentials. As participants advance, they will build the skills and confidence to offer society, and begin making a positive contribution to their community. We recognize that all people share a common interest in humanity, and that all are responsible to themselves in society. Therefore, we promote and welcome collaboration of partners, clients and volunteers from the community to help alleviate the suffering of others.

We are a nurturing community, where all are welcome to have access to resources they need for growth and stability in the workplace, and prosperity of their social, emotional and spiritual being. We have a special interest in the Gun Violence Prevention Program, where it'll be our civic duty to be ever present in the fight to eradicate this strain that continues to plague our communities. We will do our best to assist our youth and survivors of gun violence with restoring their brokenness, and break the shackles of the criminal justice system, while giving them a sense of hope, and the possibility of a bright future.
